About Us

In 2004 Millennium Theatre Company was created by a group of professional theater artists, businessmen and educators who realized that as we entered the new millennium, with all of its catastrophic events, human beings, particularly the next generation, have found themselves as a part of a society, struggling through fear and uncertainty to gain an understanding of ourselves in an unstable world. The theater has existed from the beginning of civilization, an avenue through which we may look at ourselves, reflect upon our actions and, if done well, enlighten and transform us. For William Shakespeare, the stage was like a “mirror” held up to nature. For English critic Samuel Johnson the theater was “an echo of the public's voice.”

The world is moving at such a fast pace that now, more than any other time in our history, we need to take time to reflect, analyze and evaluate our actions. Young people are not given the opportunity to participate in educational activities that involve “process”. Instead, they are simply required to produce immediate and quantitative results, only to be sent out into the world ill-equipped to cope with rapid change.

Society is forgetting that nurturing creativity and the imagination is the key to moving civilization forward. The theater is one of the few places where diverse people gather together as a community to share in a common experience. Aristotle realized the experience of catharsis, or purging our emotions, was necessary stay in touch with our spiritual being in order to get in touch with who we really are. It is time for all of us to experience catharsis on a constant basis. This is not a luxury, but rather a necessity.

Participating in theater is a vehicle for advanced self discovery and self expression, a way to move through personal barriers, a process to communicate with confidence and ease, to learn to work as a team in a compassionate and collaborative manner toward a common goal, to dig deeper into the source of one’s creativity and to continue on the journey to discover infinite possibilities of the human imagination.

We invite you to become a part of Millennium’s world.
